Dashboard Backbone

context.

This design was developed based on a previously established briefing, focused on presenting the home page of a financial management Dashboard of the company Backbone for experienced and traditional users, who spend a lot of time in the software.

The interface prioritizes information density, accuracy, and efficiency with characteristics of:

Neutral and sober colors, symbolizing traditionalism and eliminating visual distractions

Clear typographic hierarchy, with well-defined Headings and only one typographic family

Iconography and layout with minimal decoration, placing the focus on the Dashboard data

process.

For the Design process, I started by looking for Dashboard references on both Dribbble and Mobbin to understand market practices, layouts, element arrangement, and which core services are present in this type of Dashboard.

Among 4 reference options that I felt aligned with the briefing, I selected the key elements that I would add to the Design.

Before moving on to the Mockup design, I drew a wireframe with shapes and boundaries that I would follow in the high-fidelity Design, already considering the arrangement of the features that the page should have.

solution.

I developed a mockup of a Financial Dashboard home screen. The features present on the main page of the Dashboard focus on the primary information that the user needs access to, covering data from all of their registered accounts.

I added the following features:

  • Summary of balances from multiple accounts, indicating the total number of accounts and also an element to compare the evolution of each category with the previous month

  • Chart for tracking Balance, with time-based view selection

  • Budget tracking section, with category-based value analysis, featuring time-period view selection

  • Recent transactions list with filtering capabilities, containing transaction category information, date, status with visual context, and positive or negative value

In addition to the internal Dashboard features, I inserted a lateral navigation menu, organized by categories, with a clear hierarchy and differentiation between services, using an Icon + Service Title combo to facilitate familiarity and accessibility.

There is also a search bar, secondary buttons for Notifications, Settings, and an element for user identification and management, including a job title/access level indicator.
